The architects from Hardel Le Bihan and HGA-Hubert Godet have crafted an architectural complex for the Orange Group headquarters that honors the heritage of Lyon’s Part-Dieu district. The new north and south wings wrap around the existing Lacassagne telephone exchange, a landmark building designed in 1972 by André Gutton, which is protected as a “Bâtiment de France” due to its historical significance. The folded volumes are connected to the central structure via walkways and a large glass atrium. The complex is visually unified by the design of the façades, which mirror the exoskeleton of the former industrial building, while the sloping roof frames panoramic views of the surrounding urban landscape. Inside, the spaces—designed with input from users—are enhanced by Parklex Prodema natural wood flooring and paneling, known for their high resistance to wear and tear.
