Indoor wood panelling building details
Architecture: Jordi Hidalgo i Tané
In the Landaburu Borda country house, owner Gorka Ibargoyen has collaborated with site architect Jordi Hidalgo i Tané and Parklex Prodema’s installers to thoughtfully address all joints between materials, respecting the unique characteristics of each material type.
The choice of Country Oak is well-founded: oak is one of the most prevalent species in the forest surrounding the property. Its distinctive toasted hue, along with knots and grain patterns, creates a continuous dialogue with the impressions left by the reinforced concrete, which sometimes reveals an oak leaf that the wind has left behind during the construction process, etched into its surface for future generations to see.
Each Parklex Prodema product has been specifically selected for its technical attributes: the Naturhardpanel-W flooring offers excellent resistance to impact, scratches, and moisture, while the Naturpanel-W panels require no maintenance. The Naturhardpanel-W panels are specially formulated to withstand frequent contact with water. Using the same wood species for various indoor applications makes it easy to achieve consistent material continuity throughout the home, from kitchens to bedrooms, bathrooms, and even inside shower stalls.
In the bedrooms, the corners of the walls separating the sleeping areas from the bathrooms feature acute finishes, creating a wooden volume that conveys visual weight similar to solid wood.
Additionally, fastening the panels to the wall with a lath ensures that the joint between the walls and floors is aesthetically unobtrusive, eliminating the need for skirting boards.
The design, planning, and meticulous execution of each detail represent a commitment to the future, allowing the wood to expand and contract naturally throughout its life cycle without affecting adjacent elements.
