Concealed installation of slatted cladding at Aldapeta María School
Architecture: IDOM
The Aldapeta María Ikastetxea School embodies modernity, sustainability, and innovation in architectural design. With the original 19th-century building demolished, the new school structure looks forward to the future of education by incorporating advanced technologies.
Efficiency plays a crucial role in this project, utilizing geothermal energy and natural light to shape the space. Our durable rain-screen wood panel system brings the elegance and warmth typical of wood into the structure, contrasting beautifully with materials such as concrete and metal, reminiscent of Japanese architecture, characterized by its clean lines, rhythm, dynamism, and simplicity.
To enhance the rhythm and promote harmony between concrete and wood, we have chosen to install the slats vertically, evoking the patterns of traditional wood framing. This effect is achieved through the aesthetics of the small components that create a balanced relationship between wood and concrete. The innovative architectural system features a hidden mechanism with no visible screws or rivets, allowing the slatted cladding to be applied vertically, even on large buildings, in a straightforward manner that imparts strength and uniformity to the overall design. The new installation system for Parklex Prodema panels enables the creation of distinctive finishes that combine the warmth of wood with longevity, durability, and minimal maintenance requirements.
