MAINTENANCE-FREE WOOD SIDING IN THE MARTINO LAKE HOUSE

Architects: David E. Surface

Location: Georgia, USA

Photography: Des J Photography

Material: Cladding

Finish: Rubi

Standing on the shores of Lake Burton, American architect David E. Surface conceived the Martino Lake House, a private residence that merges the family’s affinity for rustic charm with state-of-the-art construction materials. The two-story structure, integrated into the contours of the sloped terrain, is wrapped in a siding system made with Parklex Prodema engineered wood panels.

Having previously experienced the allure of wood cladding in their Aspen home, the Martinos were determined to have it installed on their lake house – they were, however, deterred by the recurring maintenance demands of natural wood, as well as unimpressed by printed-HPL alternatives. Parklex Prodema panels, featuring a surface layer with natural wood instead of printed paper, deliver an elegant solution while offering all the advantages of high-tech exterior siding systems.

Aside from eliminating the need for maintenance, Parklex Prodema siding pannels offer outstanding resistance to extreme weather agents, withstanding the rigors of lakeside weather conditions. The Rubi finish, which further embodies the warmth of natural timber with its reddish undertones, extends to the detached boathouse, ensuring a seamless architectural presence along Lake Burton shorelines.
