Perched on the banks of Lake Burton, British architect David E. Surface envisioned the Martino Lake House, a private dwelling that harmoniously blends the family’s love for rustic appeal with cutting-edge construction materials. The two-storey building, integrated into the undulating landscape, is enveloped in a siding system crafted from Parklex Prodema engineered timber panels.

Having previously enjoyed the charm of timber cladding in their residence in Aspen, the Martinos were resolute about incorporating it into their lake house. However, they were discouraged by the ongoing maintenance requirements of natural timber and unimpressed by alternatives such as printed-HPL. Parklex Prodema panels, featuring a surface layer of genuine timber rather than printed paper, provide an elegant solution while offering all the benefits of advanced exterior cladding systems.

In addition to removing the necessity for upkeep, Parklex Prodema cladding panels exhibit remarkable resistance to extreme weather conditions, enduring the challenges presented by lakeside climates. The Rubi finish, which enhances the warmth of natural timber with its reddish hues, extends to the detached boathouse, ensuring a cohesive architectural presence along the shores of Lake Burton.
