York House Senior School
Acton Ostry Architects

York House School is an independent girls’ school in Vancouver, Canada. Its 13,445m2 campus has stood in the Shaughnessy district of Vancouver since 1932. The Senior School was completed in 2013.

The school was built to the equivalent of LEED Gold design standards. The project aimed to minimise energy consumption, maximise natural light and use resource-efficient building materials. The PARKLEX PRODEMA Pale cladding on the building’s facade helped the design team to meet its environmental targets.

The panels’ PEFC certification guarantees they were sourced from forests that act in an environmentally responsible way. They also help to insulate the building to help reduce energy consumption. A special outer film protects the panels from atmospheric agents and allows them to maintain their striking Pale finish.
