The Surry Hills Library and Community Centre is located in Sydney, Australia. The building is divided between a library, childcare centre and various social spaces for the local community.
Sustainability lies at the heart of the design, and the PARKLEX PRODEMA Pale cladding that adorns the building’s façade helps the project meet ambitious sustainable goals. Their PEFC certification guarantees they were sourced from forests managed in a socially and environmentally responsible way.
The cladding is also part of an automated louvre system that adjusts to the sunlight throughout the day to control lighting and ventilation. This helps to regulate the interior temperature, maximise natural light and cut energy costs.
