Originally built in 1968, Eastern Washington University’s Pence Union Building (Cheney, Washington, USA) underwent a full renovation in 2018. It was redesigned and modernised to include spacious, light-filled areas that make full use of natural materials throughout the space.PARKLEX PRODEMA NATURCLAD-W cladding adorns the exterior of the building. The Rustik finish is a perfect choice for exteriors, as it is highly resistant without sacrificing the aesthetic appeal of natural wood.The building also features PARKLEX PRODEMA NATURSOFFIT-W panels, which connect the natural wood look of the interior with the exterior.Since it was completed in 2018 the building has won a number of design awards, including the Citation Award at the 2020 AIA New England Design Awards, the Citation Award at the 2019 AIA Washington Council Civic Design Awards and the Citation Award by the Boston Society for Architects (BSA), Educational Facilities in 2018.
